What a photo reveals
Most phone cameras write a small record into every photo: the GPS location where it was taken, the exact date and time, the camera model and any editing app used. Someone who receives the file can read these details with a free tool. A photo posted with its location can show your home, your work or where a child goes to school.
How the clean works
The tool reads the file’s structure and removes the metadata blocks. For JPEG it drops the EXIF and text segments, for PNG the metadata chunks, and for WebP the EXIF and XMP chunks. The picture data is copied unchanged, so the quality stays the same. The file also keeps its rotation, so a phone photo still displays upright.
Remove everything or only location
Remove everything takes out the location, date, camera and software. Remove only location takes out just the GPS data and keeps the rest, which is useful when you want the camera or date to stay on record.
Privacy
Your photos are read and cleaned in this browser tab. Nothing is uploaded, stored or logged, and the tool only records that a clean ran.
